Photobook

This is a link to my photobook

This photobook project is a compilation of all of my photography from this Winter 2016 semester. We were given a weekly themed project, taught the skills to complete it and then we put the camera to work. Some of these camera skills included, flash photography,  reflectors, macro, portrait, themed, motion/blur, and fine art. I really enjoyed learning about my camera and the endless amounts of editing that I could apply to my pictures after the photoshoots. Although I can’t call myself an expert yet, I can truly say that I have learned a great deal about photography and design.

I spent countless hours figuring out sizing, colors, design attributes and technical issues with this photobook. I am so proud of the work that I have done and I believe that it truly showcases my skills. I wanted to keep everything very simple so that the photography would shine but I also wanted to show my design skills because that was one of my favorite parts about this project. We were free to design the book however we want and I loved having that freedom. If you would like to see the portfolio website that I developed (still under a bit of construction) this semester that includes some of my portfolio, feel free to scan the QR code at the end of my book. I hope that you enjoy flipping through my photobook!

Before

This picture was taken in Bannack, Montana. Natural lighting was used and I shot it with a Canon T3i REBEL with an 18-55 mm lens. There was quite a bit of editing effects that I added afterwards in Photoshop. I used a filter to turn the picture black and white and I brought the brightness up a little bit in order to have better quality for printing on a 16×24 foam core. I used smart sharpen to sharpen the picture as well. I used the spot healing brush to eliminate the hole in the wall and the flies on the windowsill. I used the clone tool to erase the sun beams that came in onto the wall behind the subject as well as the sun on the inside of her fur coat. I used a vibrance mask to enhance her face a little bit as well as dodge and burn tools to bring out the lighting a little bit more. I brought the resized image (16×24) to a ship and print shop to print the jpg onto a foam core.

I chose this image because it is very simple. I love the lighting and I love the expression that she has on her face. I really liked how it looked in black and white so I decided to pick it for my fine art print. I also chose it because it will always remind me of the great trip to Bannack, Montana. I really had to be patient with my camera knowledge and it was a little frustrating how many pictures I needed to take just in one day but It symbolizes the great photos I got out of the day and all of the things that I learned.

Career Workshop Image

Each week I create a post that provides the information for the Career Workshops. We recently started Periscoping the Wednesday workshops so I made a periscope icon to represent that. This was made in Adobe illustrator.

I used Adobe illustrator to create this simple image/infographic for an article that a student wrote for the Social Media Practicum. illustrator is my favorite design software.

I created an online portfolio in my creating online media class. This website is coded from scratch using HTML and CSS. The Social Media icons are interactive and the Resume takes the viewer to a pdf of my updated resume. Each page has a highlight of my different design focuses.
